This project is supported by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency, through its regional arts funding partnership, Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA). State government funding of the arts depends upon an annual appropriation by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and support from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency. PPA is administered in the region by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. Additional support of the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA) Partnership in Southeastern Pennsylvania is provided by PECO.

Studio Tour Begins Next Week

Contrary to what might be expected from an animal of such massive stature, elephants are typically quite quiet as they sneak through the jungles. Animals in close proximity to a stealthy herd can easily be unaware to their presence.

Artists too can be secretive and slip under the radar of their very neighbors. Acts of staggering imagination go on daily in our Bucks County neighborhoods without the public’s suspicion being alerted.

The State of Arts Education

Recently the Huffington Post ran an opinion piece by Michael Kaiser—President of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts— lamenting Millennials’ low “culture IQ.”

“We now have an entire generation of young people who have had virtually no exposure to the arts,” Kaiser declared, citing anecdotal examples of young colleagues clueless of Caruso’s tenor or Giuseppe Verdi’s place in history. He warned that unless we bolster arts education (and make the arts more affordable to young people), arts organizations will flounder in a few years’ time as their donors, board members, volunteers and patrons age without anyone to replace them.
