The Elephant’s Eye Bucks County Artist Studio Tour recently received a $2,600 Project Stream grant from the Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA) in conjunction with the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
The first-annual Tour in 2008 provided an opportunity for Bucks County visitors to interact with nationally and internationally-acclaimed sculptors, potters, wood turners, photographers, bead artists, etc., through a free, self-paced tour and sale. The grant will aid in expanding the Tour opportunity and offerings available to surrounding Bucks County communities.
“The first year was such a success because of contributions of our donors, in-kind supporters, talented artists and volunteers,” said Bucks County ceramic artist and the Tour’s Founder, Lisa Naples. “We are elated to receive this grant because it will help us build the sustainable future we need to continue to serve art enthusiasts in our community.”
The mission of Elephant’s Eye is threefold: to promote public appreciation and understanding of the arts, to provide role models to aspiring young artists, and to draw attention to some of the finest contemporary art being made in Bucks County today, across the media spectrum. This year the Tour will be held on May 9, 10, 16 and 17, with May 8th being reserved for student visits exclusively.
The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts is a state agency that presented the Tour grant through its regional arts funding partnership, Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts (PPA). PPA is administered in this region by the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance and additional support is provided by PECO. The mission of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts is to foster the excellence, diversity and vitality of the arts in Pennsylvania and to broaden the availability and appreciation of those arts throughout the state.
