Contact Michael A. Smith / Paula Chamlee Smith/Chamlee Studio
Details
Internationally recognized photographers Michael A. Smith and Paula Chamlee have their home/studio in a secluded location in Tinicum Township. The home/studio is self-designed down to the door handles (with architect assistance for the structure and design of the passive solar aspects). Visiting the Smith/Chamlee home/studio is an unforgettable experience. In addition to their work in black and white with large-format cameras, Chamlee photographs with an 8x10-inch view camera and Smith photographs with an 8x20-inch view camera--their newer work encompasses mixed media and large format color. Between them they have had over 300 exhibitions and their photographs are collected in over 140 museums worldwide including the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Philadelphia Museum of Art, Art Institute of Chicago, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Cleveland Museum of Art, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Bibliothèque Nationale, Paris, Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam, and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. In addition to being photographers, Smith and Chamlee are publishers. Their Lodima Press books, with photographs reproduced in 600-line screen quadtone, are unmatched in their quality. Their photographs and books will be available for sale during the studio tour. Additional images of Paula's work can be viewed here and images of Michael's work can be viewed here. Driving Direction Note: Online driving directions and/or your GPS may not be entirely accurate (Bunker Hill Road is unpaved and might not be on your map, and there is a small stream to ford!) So click here for a set of directions that will get you to this wonderful, but tucked about location. And along the way, look for directional signs we’ve posted. And if the stream is high, park on the side of Bunker Hill and call - we’ll come pick you up. |
